DENVER ( KDVR ) — Colorado gained around 232,663 people from state-to-state migration in 2023, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
It also lost around 211,370 residents to other states, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

This means that the Centennial State ultimately gained around 21,293 people.
Top states people moved from to Colorado
Around 25% of all people who moved to Colorado from another state came from Texas or California in 2023.
However, unlike in previous years , more people moved to Colorado from Texas than California.
The top five states people moved to Colorado from:
- Texas – 32,150 people
- California – 26,148 people
- Florida – 12,786 people
- Arizona – 12,378 people
- North Carolina – 10,351 people
According to the data, around 35,910 people also moved to Colorado from another country or a U.S. territory, like Puerto Rico or Guam.

Texas, California and Florida were the top three states that people moved out of Colorado to live in, according to the data.
