Good morning everyone. We continue to watch our West Coast storm trek inland and weaken, all while bringing some snows to parts of the Rockies. As it exits the mountain ranges, it’ll hook up with some energy from the Gulf of Mexico and help bring some heavy showers and thunderstorms to parts of the Midwest late overnight tonight and tomorrow.

While we are not expecting any severe weather at this time, we could still see some locally gusty winds, small hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. The best chence to see some action will be eastern Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. We could also see those showers and thunderstorms move eastward into Arkansas, Missouri, and Iowa as the day wears on tomorrow.

Please keep in mind that this is not the storm system we discussed yesterday. A more powerful storm system is expected to come ashore over the next couple of days across parts of California, Oregon, and Washington. This is the one that’ll become enhanced by the southern branch of the jet stream and will increase the risk of severe thunderstorms in the Midwest some time between next Monday and Tuesday..
