Cooler Temperatures and Winds Expected Early This Week, Rain Possible

A slight cooldown is expected to begin early this week as westerly winds increase over the mountains and deserts, bringing a shift in conditions to San Diego County, the National Weather Service said.

Low clouds will begin to spread across the region Monday evening, with isolated light rain showers possible overnight for the coast, valleys and mountains, according to the weather agency.

The low clouds that develop Monday night are expected to clear quickly from north to south Tuesday morning, as offshore winds strengthen. Breezy north to northeast winds will pick up along the coastal mountain slopes and foothills, with gusty conditions possibly reaching local valleys.

High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 66 to 71 near the coast, 68 to 73 in the western valleys, 59 to 66 in the mountains and 74 to 77 in the desert, forecasters said.

Temperatures will warm slightly by Wednesday, but the calmer conditions will be short-lived, according to meteorologists.

Looking ahead to the weekend, cooler, cloudier and windier weather is on the way, with another chance of rain, the NWS said.
