Harpeth Middle School and Sycamore Middle School each held ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 8 in honor of Veterans Day. Harpeth’s ceremony featured performances by the school’s band and choir as well as student speakers. The guest speaker was veteran James Cripps, the grandfather of choir/band student Avery McCormick. Mr. Cripps served in the U.S. Army and is the national president of the United States Veterans Alliance. Sycamore’s program also featured performances by the school’s band and choir. The guest speaker was Daniel James, the father of SMS student Kinsley James. Other Cheatham County schools held ceremonies to honor veterans and more are planned for Nov. 12, as schools were scheduled to be closed on Veterans Day. COURTESY OF CHEATHAM COUNTY SCHOOLS.
