Arkansas students get a ‘read’ on bonding with veterans

Ten Arkansas schools are among 1,000 nationwide on the receiving end of a special mission veterans are on this week.

Even though this is their time to be honored and celebrated, service members are stepping up to bond with the smallest learners thanks to United Through Reading.

The group sends soldiers and sailors into classrooms or lets them connect with kids through recordings, so students can see an American hero up close.

UTR also makes the distance of deployment disappear by letting moms and dads read to their little ones at home.
