Coldest air since last April Eastern Pa to Southern New England, gusty winds & wildfire risks

Gusty winds and very dry air also mean we have elevated wild fire risk for much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Red Flag warnings are up for the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Chilly Air Arrives & A Cold Night Into Wednesday Morning Strong high pressure is building into the Northeast and we are seeing chilly air being funneled southward on northerly winds. Today will be a day of sunshine with some passing clouds. However temperatures are going to struggle today with most highs in the 50s to around 60 in the warmest locations. The radars are quiet today and even colder air will be funneled southward on north northeast winds tonight.

The surface high is set up in a way that we see colder air coming southward from Eastern and Northeastern Canada. In the winter time with snow cover this would be a very cold night indeed but it is not winter and we don’t have snow cover anywhere. Nonetheless under clear skies tonight most inland lows will be in the mid to upper 20s. Warmer urban and coastal locations will be in the low to middle 30s by daybreak Wednesday.
