A 48-year-old St. Cloud motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer in unincorporated West Melbourne, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported.
The deadly crash happened about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 192 and St. Johns Heritage Parkway. Investigators said the Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading westbound on U.S. 192 when the rider failed to stop as he approached a freightliner semitractor-trailer stopped a few yards ahead at the intersection.
Highway Patrol investigators said the unidentified motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, then slammed into the rear of the other vehicle. Officers and paramedics arrived a short time later and declared the man dead at the scene, FHP reported.
The 49-year-old semi driver, from Kissimmee, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
