Alliance police: Missing woman found in Akron and ‘not in danger’

ALLIANCE ‒ Police no longer consider a 42-year-old resident missing after relatives made contact with her on Tuesday.

“We have not laid eyes on her,” Sgt. Chris McCord said, but the woman reached out to her mother and daughter by phone and text message.

Family members reported her missing on Sunday. She had last been seen on Friday in Alliance. She was last heard from around 4 p.m. on a phone call, while in a car.

McCord said the woman told family members she was in Canton, apologized to them and said she eventually would come home.

It was later determined she was really in Akron and “not in danger,” McCord said.

McCord said the resident has a history of “ghosting” people, and has struggled with a “lifestyle” that conflicts with sobriety.

Her Facebook page made references to ghosting and sobriety leading up to Friday, the last day she was seen or heard from. There also was a planned move to South Carolina, McCord said.

Family members reported her missing because she “went outside the norm” this time, McCord added.
