I saw this apple cider the other day while I was doing my grocery shopping and I purchased a jug so that I could make my favorite apple cider donuts. They are pretty simple to make, the hardest part is reducing the apple cider down. You will need the following ingredients:
Recipe:
2 1/2 cups of apple cider
6 tablespoons of butter, cut into 6 pieces
3 1/2 cups of all purpose flour (you will need a little more for rolling the recipe)
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon (divided)
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 cup of brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup of applesauce
1/3 cup of buttermilk
2 large eggs
2/3 cup of sugar
oil for deep frying
Pour the apple cider into a pot and boil this down until there is only 1/3 cup of cider left. It will be thick and syrup-like. This will take at least 30 minutes.
Remove the cider from the stove and add the butter and stir until the butter has melted.
Add the brown sugar and whisk this until the sugar has dissolved.
