Chilly Nights Return: Frost and Freezing Conditions Expected Across Virginia and North Carolina

Brace yourself for a cold night ahead as high pressure sweeps into Virginia and North Carolina, bringing breezy conditions that will calm by evening, leading to a much cooler and drier night.

With temperatures expected to drop into the 30s, a freeze warning has been issued for areas west of I-95, where lows could dip below freezing. Closer to the coast and east of I-95, a frost advisory is in effect, as temperatures near freezing might lead to patchy frost.

The National Weather Service warns that areas under clear skies and lighter winds will be at higher risk of frost formation, especially across the Piedmont. This cooler trend will ease up briefly, but a weak front could bring rain chances by Thursday. Warmer and drier conditions are forecast to return just in time for the weekend, offering a break from the chilly nights.
