LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada State Police said they found an open bottle of whiskey under the seat of a driver accused of traveling the wrong way on a Las Vegas freeway and killing her passenger, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.
Alyssa Scott, 21, faces charges including DUI resulting in death and reckless driving, records said.
On Oct. 25, Scott collided with another car on the freeway near Boulder Highway, police said. Scott’s passenger, Marilyn Rodriguez, died in the crash. Another driver was hurt. The crash closed part of the road for several hours.
Troopers said they received a call about a wrong-way driver on the freeway near Charleston Boulevard around 2:48 a.m. At 2:52 a.m., dispatchers received an update that the driver had collided with another vehicle farther south.
Witnesses said Scott smelled of alcohol after the crash, documents said.
While investigating the crash, officers said they located an open bottle of whiskey under the driver’s seat of Scott’s car, documents said.
