Horry-Georgetown Technical College honors those who made ultimate sacrifice in ‘Walk for Veterans’

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry-Georgetown Technical College honored those who have made the ultimate sacrifice at its “Walk for Veterans” on Tuesday.

At the Conway, Grand Strand and Georgetown campuses, HGTC communities celebrated their more than 180 veteran students, faculty and staff by walking alongside them.

The school is a Purple Heart college and has a military-friendly gold status for its commitment to creating a positive educational experience for service members, veterans and their families.

HGTC’s Veterans Resource Center on its Conway campus provides computers, study areas and resources to active service members and veterans. The center is also home to the HGTC student veterans organization, which brings together veterans from all branches of the US Armed Forces, National Guard and reserves.

The Walk for Veterans is just one of many ways that HGTC’s campuses foster supportive environments for veterans.

“Our veterans have sacrificed so much for us to have the freedoms that we enjoy today,” HGTC public relations director Nicole Hyman said. “So, this is just a small token of our appreciation for what they’ve done for us.”
