Pedestrian killed in Saturday crash that shut San Marco Road down for hours, police say

A pedestrian died Saturday night in a crash that closed off a portion on San Marco Road for approximately 10 hours, authorities say.

Capt. Dave Ennis, spokesperson for Marco Island police, said in a news release that officers responded to a crash around 8:20 p.m. Saturday on San Marco Road, near Primrose Court.

San Marco Road was closed in both directions for several hours to allow for a thorough crash investigation, Ennis said.

The victim’s age and hometown remained unknown before publication. At least 45 people have died in Collier County crashes this year.
