Pennsylvania officials are conducting a study into driving safely around school buses, and now the results are in.
Operation Safe Stop is an annual educational study aimed at improving school bus safety across the state.

In one day, state officials reported 131 violations of the school bus-stopping law, down about 40 violations from last year.
One local police officer said you can be fined up to $300 for violating the law and also can receive points on your license.

“Some simple things to think about when you’re following a school bus is whenever you see the yellow flashing lights come on, it’s not like a traffic light where a lot of people try to beat those yellow lights, as soon as you see those come on, the red lights are going to come on shortly thereafter,” said Sgt. Mike Panighetti with the Millcreek Police Department.
The Millcreek officer said school buses have new technology to record vehicles that pass school buses.
