WATCH: Responders rescue person from Anacostia River

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Responders rescued a person from the Anacostia River in D.C. on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post on X at around 2 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) said crews rescued one person from the water below the South Capitol Street bridge.

Responders pulled the person onto a floating work barge before using two fireboats to draw them to shore.

DCFD said responders took the person to the hospital with critical life-threatening injuries.
