Storrs Smokehouse in Newberg will change owners

Storrs Smokehouse has a new owner, but regular patrons can be assured they will continue to see a familiar face at the helm of the downtown Newberg eatery.

Allen Routt and Jessica Bagley, owners of The Painted Lady Restaurant in Newberg and founders of Storrs, are “transitioning” ownership of the First Street dining spot to longtime employee Ashlin Indiana Elwood.

Elwood “has been an integral part of the Storrs Smokehouse team as manager and head pitmaster for the past six years,” a release said. “This shift marks a new chapter for the beloved smokehouse, dedicated to traditional barbecue and locally inspired flavors.”

Routt and Bagley commented that they are excited “to pass the torch” to Elwood, who they characterized as responsible through his leadership and passion for quality with the restaurant’s success.

“Ashlin has been a tremendous force at Storrs Smokehouse, bringing skill, care and dedication to every aspect of the operation,” the pair said in the release. “We know he’ll carry forward the traditions of Storrs Smokehouse while adding his unique touch, and we’re excited to see where he takes it.”
