MONONA, Wis. — Monona Police arrested two teens after they said they stole a vehicle and led police on a high-speed chase.
Monona Police Chief Brian Chaney said the stolen vehicle was reported out of Sun Prairie where officers observed a vehicle travel into the parking lot of the Monona Walgreens store, at Monona Drive and Pflaum Road. The officer reportedly saw the teens wearing full-faced ski masks.
Chaney said as MPOD officers converged, the vehicle drove off going northbound on Monona Dr. An MOPD detective operating in an undercover squad car observed the stolen vehicle as it passed Monona Grove High School and approached Buckeye Road. MOPD reinitiated a traffic stop at which point the suspect reportedly drove off again.
The suspect driver traveled onto Highway 51 and eventually entered Highway 30. The driver then entered I-90 towards Janesville. Chaney said an outside agency successfully deployed a tire deflation device along I-90 near Janesville, and the driver stopped along the interstate and both the driver and passenger were taken into custody.
