A worker was killed Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, when a baling machine fell on him at a Clifton recycling plant, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the Ricova Recycling at 1 Broad St., and involved a worker who was crushed after he went underneath the heavy machine, according to a spokesperson from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Clifton police Lt. Robert Anderson said officers, firefighters, rescue officials, and EMS personnel responded and confirmed the employee was dead.
The Clifton Police Department, represented by Robert Anderson, said only that the incident is not considered suspicious. OSHA is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
