Stockton: Man Gets 2 Years In Federal Prison For Passing Over $250K In Bad Checks

Bay City News

A Stockton man was sentenced to two years in federal prison Tuesday for passing over 1,300 bad checks, according to U.S. Attorney Phillip Talbert.

Charles Dean Good, 55, stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in U.S. postage stamps from the U.S. Postal Service by passing counterfeit checks in the names of identity-theft victims, prosecutors said.

Good passed at least 1,326 bad checks, for a total loss to the U.S. Postal Service of at least $252,631, which he was ordered to pay in restitution.

He passed the bad checks at numerous post offices in Sacramento and San Joaquin counties.

Good also possessed and used the name and driver’s license number of at least one of the identity-theft victims.
