Severe storms, flash flooding pose risk

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County and much of Southwest Mississippi could see isolated severe storms and flash flooding risks Wednesday. The severe storms could bring damaging wind gusts and possibly tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a marginal risk of isolated severe storms Wednesday. Strong damaging wind gusts are the hazard of concern associated with these storms although tornadoes can not be ruled out.

The NWS states the storms could arrive between noon and 10 p.m. Wednesday. Heavy rainfall could accompany the severe storms Wednesday afternoon. A limited threat of flash flooding is possible for southwest Mississippi including Lincoln County.

NWS Jackson warns two to three inches of rain could fall in a short amount of time. Localized flash flooding is possible in urban and low lying areas Wednesday afternoon and into the night.

NWS Jackson forecasts an otherwise sunny week with mostly sunny skies Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday night’s low will dip down to 49 degrees.
