LSU’s Emery Jones Jr. spoke to the media this week about Florida’s defense and how Garrett Nussmeier has responded to adversity.
How have you seen [Garrett] Nussmeier respond to the adversity he faced in the past few weeks and push forward into a new week?
Emery: He’s been taking it like a champ. That’s our leader, that’s the leader of the team, the leader of the offense and he’s been leading. He’s been making sure everybody has good energy, positive energy and everybody’s attacking every day. We love him for that.
What do you see from Florida’s defense?
Emery: They are bigger guys. During my past two years of playing them, they’ve always had a bigger D-line. So they’re bigger guys who are going to be very motivated to beat us at home.
Obviously, the road to the playoffs got a lot harder after that loss. How have you seen the team respond?
Emery: I feel like Coach Kelly and the staff have done a really good job at bringing good guys in the building…We just had practice and everybody came out with fire in their eyes trying to get better. We’re trying to figure out what we can do for the Florida game. We’re focused on trying to beat Florida and we are going to keep advancing through the season like that.
