LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Valley Water District issued a warning to customers and residents about people going door-to-door posing as district employees.
According to the district, there were “suspicious activities” near the intersection of Owens Avenue and D Street involving people going door-to-door, claiming to represent the water district and asking to enter customer homes.
The people claimed to need to enter homes to install water filtration systems, saying they need to test the water inside the home. The people told residents the customer needs to sign and agreement and provide them with a credit card.
The water district said that the individuals involved are not employees at the district and that real LVVWD employees will never request access to customers’ homes, nor will they request payment in person.
The district warns residents to exercise caution if someone claims to be with a water company and asks to enter their homes.
