MADISON COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Roads, a potential new Madison County Courthouse and water improvement projects are all top of mind for the Madison County Commission.
On Wednesday, Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon gave his 2024 State of the County address. In it, the chairman said that Madison County is in a great spot financially.

McCutcheon said the county has an “excellent” bond/credit rating and enough reserves to operate for six months.
The chairman said now is a good time to start planning for the future. Part of that includes thinking about the future of the Madison County Courthouse.
While there have been discussions for years about the possibility of a new courthouse, it looks like the wheels are finally turning. McCutcheon said the commission should have a feasibility study completed by Spring 2025.
He said the county is looking into several options, including one that would separate the criminal justice system and county administrative offices.
