WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Now open in Webster: Mecate Mexican Restaurant. This is the third Rochester-area location for the chain. The address is 1998 Empire Blvd, Webster, and it is open every day of the week.
Their first is in Park Point in Henrietta, and their other is in Macedon. Mecate is a Spanish word for a kind of rope that is used in packaging, fishing, and horse work in Mexico.
This ownership team opened their first place in Ohio, which had to close due to the pandemic. Part owner Omar Garcia tells News 8 that the team decided to settle in the Finger Lakes after taking a drive and seeing the area.
This Webster location has a new drink menu, featuring nearly a dozen new items, as well as margarita and tequila flights.
This menu will be similar to the other Mecate locations. Mecate offers catering for large events and supports delivery and online ordering.
“Anything that has to do with birria, I think is the best for me,” Garcia said. “But it’s what we sell the most (of), and it’s what’s keeping us going in the other locations too… People try it and they like it.”
