Renton Police detectives this week arrested 37-year-old Curt Cox, a prolific car theft suspect with a lengthy criminal history, following a tip from Crime Stoppers.
Cox, who was wanted in connection with a truck theft in July, was apprehended in Burien after attempting to evade officers.
During the arrest, police say he dropped or tossed a loaded, stolen firearm and car keys belonging to a different stolen vehicle.
According to police, Cox has over a dozen prior felony convictions and 41 arrests.
In addition to the recent charges, he now faces Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Cox remains in custody on $115,000 bail.
Police credit community engagement with helping to locate Cox. They initially posted his photo, urging the public to assist in identifying him, which ultimately led to the crucial tip.
