AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department reports that a 17-year-old student was arrested after Randall High School received a hoax bomb threat Tuesday.
Police said on Tuesday, officers responded to a possible bomb threat at Randall High School. A student was said to have alerted school staff of a social media post that claimed a potential bomb was placed in one of the school’s bathrooms.
The school was placed on hold while police investigated.
Police said they determined that the device was a hoax and arrested Cesar Alcocer, 17, a student at the school, for charges “related to making a hoax bomb threat.” No threat to students or staff was found.
Alcocer was booked into the Randall County Jail on the charges.

“The Amarillo Police Department takes all threats seriously and will continue to fully investigate any incidents that could compromise the safety of our schools and community. We are committed to holding accountable those who make false threats, and we remain dedicated to protecting our children and ensuring the safety of our public spaces,” said the Amarillo Police Department in a news release.
