HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — An Evansville woman was honored on Wednesday for her dedication to area babies and children.
Dr. Maria Del Rio Hoover was given the YWCA’s “Tribute to Achievement” during a holiday luncheon at the Evansville Country Club.
Born in Cuba, Dr. Del Rio Hoover came to the U.S. as a young girl and was inspired by her pediatrician father.
Dr. Del Rio Hoover has been with Ascension St. Vincent Evansville for 35 years. She is also the co-chair of Indiana’s “Perinatal Substance Use Task Force,” advocating for new laws and services for abused and neglected children.
Dr. Del Rio Hoover was also named the 2024 IU School of Medicine Physician Mentor of the Year.
