LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) – A 19-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday night when a semitrailer crashed into the aerial lift the man was sitting in.
Just after 8 p.m., a woman was driving a semi on State Route 2, approaching a closed construction zone near milepost 9 in Springfield Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Meanwhile, Jaiden Barnes of Massillon, Ohio was in a bucket seat on the aerial lift of a utility truck over active traffic, according to the release.
As the semi got closer, it hit the aerial lift.
Barnes was thrown from the lift. He was hospitalized for serious injuries, police said.
No injuries were reported for the driver of the semi, 50-year-old Tamera Stuttle from Illinois.
Based on the initial investigation, police said they don’t believe impaired driving led to the crash.
