Sometimes, the interesting development news is what doesn’t happen. Central Ohio has plenty of projects that never got off the ground. (Anyone remember the Millennial Tower ?) This week, we looked into another building that never got built.
Stalled in Easton
For roughly four years, about 100 concrete columns have stood on the north end of Easton Town Center, a reminder of an apartment building that stopped barely after starting. We took a look at what was planned, and tried to find out what happened. Instead we found no one willing to talk about it. It’s not like Easton itself has stalled. Indeed, as the columns stood like a low-rent Stonehenge, development swirled around it. Easton still says apartments are coming to the “area,” but no details on when or what.
Chipping in
A group of business leaders across several states including Ohio are urging the Biden administration to distribute money from the CHIPS Act to help finance semiconductor factories. The move reflects growing urgency and concern surrounding the factories Intel is building in New Albany. Work has slowed on the $28-billion project, which Intel still says will be completed, as the company awaits $8.5 billion in grants and $11 billion in low-cost loans from the feds.
