A former Lake Worth police officer, who was dismissed from his position earlier this year, is facing new criminal charges.
Landon Rollins, 44, was fired this summer after an internal investigation found he had used excessive force on a suspect and falsified a report, according to the Lake Worth Police Department. Rollins allegedly struck a suspect on the head with his police radio and later claimed in his report that the individual had hit a concrete wall.
A Tarrant County Grand Jury has since indicted Rollins on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with a governmental record. The charges stem from his actions while serving as a commander with the department this spring.
The Lake Worth Police Department’s chief terminated Rollins, citing violations of department policies. The case remains under investigation.
