MADISON COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Canton man has been convicted in connection to the death of his wife.
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett said Myles Flint Johnson , 53, was found guilty of second-degree murder after a three day jury trial in Madison County Circuit Court. Johnson was sentenced to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) without the possibility of parole.
Bond set for three accused of assaulting woman in Vicksburg
On January 30, 2024, Canton police responded to E. Fulton Street after Johnson called 911 stating that his wife had been shot. Investigators said the victim, Kristi Johnson, was found deceased on the couple’s bed.
According to Bramlett, Johnson told officers that his wife had shot herself, but their investigation determined that she had been shot in the back.
Investigators said Johnson shot and killed his wife two days before he called 911. Officers said there had been a long history of domestic violence going back more than a decade.
