Delaware’s Christmas pop-up bar scene kicks off early with new spots and old favorites

We get it. When you first started seeing Christmas items in stores in late summer, it was enough to make you shake your head ― not your jingle bells.

But there’s one growing Christmas tradition we don’t mind kicking off a bit earlier: Delaware’s Christmas pop-up bar scene.

After all, we all could use a little extra cheer, right?

The decorations, specialty cocktails, holiday-themed bar bites and selfie spots that come with the pop-ups are coming online – both old favorites such as Wilmington’s Blitzen and the Sleigh Bar at Klondike Kate’s in Newark revving back up, along with newbies like the one at Starboard Claw, dubbed Santa Claws.

Santa Claws was the first to open on Thursday, Nov. 7 with The Sleigh Bar not far behind on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Some lean heavily into a Christmas theme, while others stick to a more generic holiday theme.

Either way, these limited time-only bars are a fun shot in the arm to the post-summer bar scene, adding a dash of excitement because as we all know that a cold winter is soon upon us.
