Dolton’s Henyard criticized for installing nearly $20K worth of unapproved ‘Super Mayor’ banners

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Village of Dolton trustees say they never approved nearly $20,000 worth of welcome banners that Mayor Tiffany Henyard had installed along Sibley Boulevard this summer. The banners were later removed at the direction of village leaders, many of whom have sparred with the mayor for the past year.

The removal of the banners, which feature a picture of Tiffany Henyard and her often used title of “Super Mayor,” was captured on police body cam video first obtained by Channel 5 .

As the station reports, the body camera footage shows Henyard asking who ordered the workers to take down the banners — and the mayor says she will press charges.

The banners came up during a public comment portion of the most recent Dolton Village Board meeting.

“You complained somebody took down them ugly-a** banners?” asked one resident. “Those banners were stupid.”

Dolton Trustee Kiana Belcher told WBBM Newsradio that the banners were never approved, nor were they ever paid for. Mosca Design, the out-of-state vendor hired to make the banners, asked the village administrator to take them down and return them.
