KCSO searches for person of interest in 2021 homicide

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person of interest in a homicide that happened in June of 2021.

Sheriff’s officials released a photo a person of interest in the case and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

If anyone has information regarding the individual they are asked to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110, or the Secret Witness line at 661-322-4040.

The homicide was reported on June 6, 2021 when deputies were dispatched to Highway 58 near the Sand Canyon exit for the report of a body off the roadway.

The body was later identfied as Gabriel Barraza Acosta, 33, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

The coroner said Barraza Acosta died of a gunshot wound to his shoulder and his death was ruled a homicide.
