The election is done. The legislative session can begin.
State lawmakers will convene for Org Day on Tuesday ― a day that’s mostly ceremonial in nature, but can provide some glimpses into their goals and tone for the upcoming session. We’ll be at the Statehouse, so come say hi to us if you’re in the building.
Before that, caucus leaders will discuss the upcoming session at the Indiana Chamber’s legislative preview on Monday. Also on Monday, the Senate Democrats plan to squeeze in their caucus leadership vote ― the last caucus to do so.

THE MAIN EVENT: What can Beckwith really do?
A major theme of Micah Beckwith’s campaign for lieutenant governor was that the position should be a “check” on the governor, one that can exert some real influence in the Statehouse.
Traditionally and by design, the power of that position has very much been at the discretion of the governor, and dependent on relationships built with the General Assembly.
