Floor collapse caused Denver firefighter injuries in Green Valley Ranch basement fire

DENVER (KDVR) — Two Denver firefighters were injured Wednesday night after they fell through the floor of a house in Green Valley Ranch while responding to a basement fire.

According to the agency, the heat of the fire in the basement led to the floor collapse as it weakened the flooring, causing the pair of first responders to plunge between 7 and 9 feet into the basement.

On Thursday morning, the Denver Fire Department reported that one firefighter was still in the hospital, but in a 3 p.m. update the agency said both firefighters had been released after being treated for their injuries.

Another person was also evaluated on scene, but they were not taken to a hospital.
