CHICAGO — AMC is opening up a theater early next year in the same spot where ShowPlace ICON abruptly closed this summer.
It will be known as Roosevelt Collection 16, located in the stretch of outdoor business space near Roosevelt Road. The theater will open up “in the first quarter of 2025,” according to a press release.
Alcohol is expected to be served following the opening and the theater will feature power-reclining seating.
“In recent years, AMC has made it a priority to strengthen our circuit by identifying popular and well-performing theatres in areas where we believe moviegoers are underserved. AMC Roosevelt Collection 16 is one of the most productive locations in the Chicagoland area and fits perfectly within that strategy,” AMC Executive Vice President Dan Ellis said.

The former ShowPlace ICON abruptly closed on July 1 along with three others in Minnesota and California.
