Judge laments ‘thuggery,’ sentences Mobile teenager sentenced to 35 years for fatal slaying

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge on Thursday sentenced a teenager to 35 years in prison for the fatal shooting of a teenager near LeFlore High School in 2021. Larry Anderson, a retired judge from Houston County brought in for the sentencing after Mobile County judges recused themselves, said King Solomon Franklin not only is responsible for Chavan Scruggs’s death but that it was done in a “cowardly” manner.
