TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Cost Share Program will award $5.9 million to seven transportation construction projects across the state.
The communities where the projects are located will contribute $9.8 million in matching funds, bringing the total investment to more than $15 million. The program is part of the bipartisan Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, or IKE, which aims to help rural and urban areas improve safety, access and mobility and relieve traffic congestion while supporting job growth and retention.
“Infrastructure projects funded through the Cost Share Program aren’t just about roads and bridges; they are about increasing job growth and retention and strengthening the economic climate across Kansas,” Governor Laura Kelly said in a news release. “By leveraging this partnership with KDOT, communities are able to address necessary, long-term solutions to their local transportation issues.”
