PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Twenty-four training bicycles were hand-delivered to Montclair Elementary Thursday morning, a surprise made possible by a $333,000 grant from an organization that provides grants in the fields of education, health and the environment.

The HDR Foundation awarded the money to a group called All Kids Bike, whose mission is to give every child the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike in school.
The money pays for bikes, helmets, and other equipment at Montclair and 36 other local schools. The bikes donated on Thursday were starter bikes, meaning the kindergarteners will learn how to balance on a bike that has no pedals.
The HDR Foundation is an employee-funded organization. School selections are made based on where HDR employees live and work, with a specific focus on Title 1 schools that serve low-income students.
“We reach out and schools are recommended to us by local officials so that’s how we got here,” Project Manager with HDR Engineering, Allen Vinson said.
