Two friendly dogs are wagging their tails at a second chance after being left on a Jupiter Farms dirt road with a plea for help in Palm Beach County, Florida. Mella and Rocky, described as happy and sociable by their former owner, arrived at Furry Friends animal shelter with medical records and a poignant note scrawled on their harnesses.
It’s heartbreaking to see pets abandoned like this.
“It’s incredibly distressing to know people are ready, willing and able to just dump their dogs,” Sarah Johnson, who took the dogs in overnight, shared in a video interview with WFLX FOX 29.
The report revealed that the canine duo’s arrival pushes Furry Friends’ Jupiter location beyond its 35-dog capacity, bringing the total to 47. Shelter director Janelle Marrone notes that while animal abandonment is illegal in Florida, it remains all too common.
“It happens every day every day,” said Marrone. “People just panic and don’t know what to do and dump their dogs it’s really awful.”
