On a crisp fall morning, the Port of Caddo-Bossier hosted a ceremony to turn the spigot to a new, $20-million waterline from Bossier City.
“It is just an engineering marvel,” Eric England, executive director of the Port said during the ceremony Thursday, Nov. 14.
“There will be stories told about how impressive the engineering was on this project and how the construction was as well, boring some 100 feet under the bed of the river,” he continued.
Northwest Louisiana’s largest economic engines broke ground in October 2023 on the project that would usher in millions of gallons of water from Bossier City to undeveloped portions of the Port.
“I am proud and excited to witness and celebrate the completion of this waterline project, a project that allowed Bossier City to provide not only water but Grade A water to the Port of Caddo-Bossier,” Mayor Tommy Chandler said.
According to the Port, the new waterline was bored 100 feet under the Red River and extended from Parkway High School to the Port in Caddo Parish.
