WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) announced on Thursday that the official theme for WorldPride 2025 will be called “The Fabric of Freedom.”
According to a news release, the decision comes after the outcome of the 2024 presidential election and leaders wanted the theme to reflect “one of unity and a global call to action to LGBTQ+ people and their allies.”
“At a time of division, when the LGBTQ+ community finds itself threatened both in the U.S. and around the world, the fabric of the flag symbolizes the strength of the community, the shared humanity, and the unshakeable unity that defines resilience, love, and acceptance,” the news release stated. “Washington, DC invites everyone who fights for these freedoms to come together in the same place, a city known for hosting some of the most influential movements in the country’s history.”

In a statement explaining the theme’s meaning, CPA and global partner InterPride said it’s because “people have used fabrics as expressive symbols, to communicate identities, and as forms of resistance.”
