SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sunshine has been ongoing in most of KELOLAND today, while cloud cover has stuck around in areas further east. Temperatures stayed above-average in the 50s, while western South Dakota had 60s.
Lows will drop to below freezing tonight with light winds. With these conditions and moisture being available, widespread fog is expected, especially in eastern KELOLAND.
As patchy fog may continue into tomorrow morning, highs will warm to above-average for this time of year. More cloud cover will stick around throughout the day and winds will increase from the south.
Breezy conditions will linger heading into Saturday as a low-pressure system lifts into North Dakota. Our area will continue to stay dry and temperatures will stay mild in the 50s. With stronger, southerly winds, lows will mainly be above freezing Saturday night.
Sunday will stay quiet before another active weather pattern returns, bringing rain and snow chances. Another low-pressure system is expected to move into KELOLAND going into Monday night, bringing rain for most of us. The low is expected to stall due to another system digging into the southwestern United States and a high-pressure system in Canada. Cold air will most likely filter into the backside of this low, bringing snow chances. Snow accumulation is possible depending on where and how long the low stalls out. Otherwise, temperatures will continue to drop to below-average by the end of next week.
