A cold front sweeping across the region tonight will bring the potential for frost and freeze conditions, particularly in the northwest Arkansas counties and areas near the Kansas border. Clear skies and light winds will create ideal conditions for radiational cooling, leading to colder-than-usual overnight temperatures. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for four northwest Arkansas counties, with temperatures expected to dip into freezing ranges.
In addition, a Frost Advisory has been put in place for areas along the Kansas border, far eastern Oklahoma, and parts of the Arkansas River Valley. With a high-pressure system settling over the region, colder spots such as Bartlesville, Fayetteville, Tahlequah, and Wister will likely see temperatures drop even further than initially predicted. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing.
