Ex-court employee accused of leaking corruption investigation documents to media

(FOX40.COM) — A San Joaquin County Court employee was arrested Wednesday accused of leaking sealed documents to the media , the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, in November 2023, an employee who had been with the court for 27 years gave a sealed warrant related to a potential public corruption investigation to her neighbor who works as a reporter for The Stockton Record .

The sheriff’s office said the document’s early release “may have negatively impacted our investigation.”

The county district attorney’s office issued a statement on Thursday, saying, “Violating the sanctity of a Court Order, especially a sealed warrant, is not only an assault on our justice system but puts law enforcement and potential witnesses in harm’s way.”

“This District Attorney’s Office will not tolerate this betrayal of justice, especially by someone who had spent 27 years sworn to uphold the very law they are alleged to have violated. We will hold all those involved in this case fully responsible for this violation of our courts and our justice system.”
