Severe Thunderstorms Possible in the Midwest Late Sunday Into Monday
11/14/24 2:13pm EST
Good afternoon everyone. Behind that wide-ranging powerful low pressure system bringing heavy showers & thunderstorms to parts of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, we have some unseasonably cold air filtering in for the overnight hours.
Our primary concern overnight tonight will be parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and possibly the southeast corner of Kansas and southwest corner of Missouri. As of now, the National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings for the northwest corner of Arkansas, with frost advisories around that watch area in Oklahoma.
Both frost and freeze conditions can do damage and/or destroy late-season crops and plants. We could also see a repeat of these conditions overnight tomorrow across the same areas, as well as south-central Missouri. Please take the proper steps to protect livestock and plants/crops over the next few days.
In other news, vigrous low pressure will emerge from the Southwest, into Texas, and then northeast into the Plains. This will increase the risk for severe weather overnight Sunday into Monday across parts of Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. The potential is there for not only large hail and damaging winds, but tornadic activity as well.
