While Georgia may be known for BBQ, fried foods, and more classic Southern comfort cuisine, it also offers multiple vegan restaurants that are popular and delicious. One of the most popular is in Savannah.
Yelp recently released its list of the Top 100 Vegan Restaurants in the U.S. Hungry Vegan was one of only four Georgia spots to make the list. The other three were in Atlanta, Lithonia, and Duluth.
Hungry Vegan has been a hidden gem of Savannah since 2021. While some restaurants feature some vegan recipes on its menu, Hungry Vegan’s menu is 100% vegan while including dishes like mac and cheese, lasagna, baked cauliflower, and stroganoff.
As of Nov. 14, the restaurant has 4.9 out of 5 stars on Yelp . Here is what some recent reviewers said about it:
- “My son and I went to Hungry Vegan and it was absolutely AMAZING. The food was seasoned to perfection and the amount was generous. The owner and staff were most pleasant and customer was excellent. You will not find a better atmosphere wonderful like this anywhere.”
- “I’m not vegan, but this is easily the best vegan food I’ve ever had. I do love soul food and this place exceeded expectations. Perfect amount of flavor and soul. I got the vegan loaf and my goodness it was amazing, possibly the best thing I’ve tasted in a while. It really tasted like meat loaf. The sides were incredible and I felt great and full after eating. Made me think about turning vegan.”
- “Wasn’t expecting to find any all vegan restaurants around here but found this gem. Got the fried mushroom platter. Everything I ate was amazing. Sides were full of flavor. Mushrooms were cooked perfectly. I used to hate mushrooms but these would change your mind. Next time I’m in town I’d come back probably multiple times.”
