FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) — Six dogs have been seized by the City of Fresno Animal Center after killing and chasing cats.
The pack of dogs was captured on Thursday morning near the Riverside Golf course.
Alma Torres, Deputy City Manager and Interim Director for the Fresno Animal Center confirmed all six dogs belonged to someone.
“These animals were owned. They were not strays. For our community, you know, just to make sure that they are safely securing their backyards so that their animals are not running around,” Torres said.
She said the dogs have the same owner.
“Our very first intent is to provide them with the education and the resources that they need to be responsible pet owners. When that fails, then we will proceed with some of our ordinance allowances,” Torres said.
She said she is thankful for the community’s help.
“The several reports helped us sort of figure out what direction they were coming from so that we can identify where to locate them,” Torres said.
Erica Johnson lives in the area where the dogs were found.
