Struggling to Pay Utility Bills? S.C. Small Businesses Can Access Up to $2,500 in Assistance

Small businesses, nonprofits, and places of worship in South Carolina struggling with utility bills have just over a month to apply for financial relief through Dominion Energy’s EnergyShare for Small Business program. The initiative offers a one-time payment of up to $2,500 to help cover overdue electric bills.

Dominion Energy representatives emphasized the importance of supporting these organizations, which play a vital role in their communities. “We want to make sure that those businesses understand, if they are struggling financially, working to make ends meet month to month, just struggling to keep the lights on and keep the doors open, that Dominion Energy’s small business EnergyShare program does offer that helping hand for those customers who may need it the most,” Dominion Energy spokesperson Paul Fischer stated.

Program Details and Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the program, applicants must meet specific criteria, including:

  • Receiving electric service from Dominion Energy.
  • Maintaining an active business account and license to operate within Dominion Energy South Carolina’s service area.
  • Being classified as a small general service customer based on Dominion Energy’s qualifying rate.
  • Employing 50 or fewer people as of January 1, 2024.
  • Having an overdue balance of $300 or more, in addition to current charges.
  • Operating as a place of worship, an independently owned for-profit business, or a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
